Will is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of CyberWA, Inc. His past experience includes being the President and CEO, and subsequently the Chair, of the Center for Internet Security, an international nonprofit organization and home of the Critical Security Controls®. Will was the Founder and Chair of the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) for twelve years. He also served as Chair of the National Council of Information Sharing and Analysis Centers for three years.
He co-founded with New York City and London, the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA), an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to confronting cyber risks and improving the safety and security of our connected world. He became GCA’s first Chairman of the Board and also serves as GCA’s Global Strategic Advisor. GCA currently has partners that spans 18 sectors and more than 30 countries.
In addition to these roles, Will served as a Commission Member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Commission on Cyber Security to brief the 44th President of the United States on critical cyber security issues. Since May 2013, Will has served as Co-Chair Advisory Board Member on the New York State Governor’s Cyber Security Advisory Board. In 1997, Will was appointed as Head of the New York State Office for Technology, and the State’s Chief Technology Officer. In 2002, he was appointed to lead the NYS Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (CSCIC) at the Office of Homeland Security.
In addition to his many pieces of published work, he has appeared on NBC’s TODAY Show, ABC News, CBS News, Anderson Cooper Live and more. Will has also received numerous awards throughout his career including being named Top 100 City Innovators Worldwide by Future Cities, Top 10 Influencers in Government IT Security and SC Magazine’s Top 5 Influential IT Security Thinkers. Will authored one chapter in the book “Best Practices for Computer Network Defense: Incident Detection and Response,” for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Will is internationally recognized as a cyber security expert.
